31st December – Stable News

Wishing everyone, two and four legged friends a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR, drink, be merry and stay safe.  The weather is getting a bit crazy out there.

Yesterday “Snowy Oscar” ran in the Introductory hurdle at Newbury.  Leighton Aspell took the ride and he was not happy with him a long way from home.  We are scratching our heads slightly.  We had him scoped and his heart checked after the race.  He finished like a horse that had run 4 miles, the ground was very hard going, but even so he was a bit trembly afterwards.  Yet he was not blowing hard.   We are going to wait a few days and have him blood tested.  We will also investigate his wind too.  The ground was so that it throws a lot of funny results and sometimes you just have to put a line through it.  This horse shows a lot at home and we will get to the bottom of it.

He is young and very buzzy, we have taken our time with him, but we know he is a lot better than that.  For the first circuit Leighton was happy with him on the ground.  It may be a combination of all of the above.  He is after all still only 4 and that was his second time on the track.  The good thing is he has eaten up and is absolutely fine.

We now have a quiet few days in terms of runners.  Our next entries are for Lingfield on Friday with “Puppet Warrior” and “Glen Rocco”
