What a phenomenal performance from “The Mighty Don ” and Leighton Aspell to finish a just beaten ( neck) 2nd in the 1:15 Kempton 24 FEB 2018 RUK 2m5f (Winter) Back Or Lay On Betdaq Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) (4yo+ 0-135), beating some every good horses.  Slightly gutted to have another second, but could not be happier with his performance and the ride he was given .  If he had pinged the last he would have won,  he just lost a bit of momentum.  Such a stunning horse , as we have always known, but he does appreciate this slightly better ground as we have seen today ( it was good to soft, he is not yet strong enough to perform as well on the heavy winter ground).  We hope now that he has done enough to go up a few pounds in the handicap to be able to make an entry for Cheltenham.

Whatever happens the whole team and connections are thrilled with his performance.  Tina has been doing a lot of slow hill work at home to get him stronger, he is a Spring horse and at the moment the ground is key.  There were certainly lots of talented horses behind him and they went a proper gallop.    Andrew Tony Veale our head lad led him up.  Another gorgeous talented Chestnut.  His jumping has improved no end.
