20th March – Stable News

Today we have one runner in the first at Chepstow. “Cindefella” will be having his first run for the yard. He runs in the 2:20 Chepstow20 MAR 2019 SKY
2m7½f (2m7f131y) Ashcroft Services Handicap Hurdle (Class 5) (4yo+ 0-100) , Leighton Aspell takes the ride. He is a future staying chaser who was bred by his owner. The ground will be soft , he will probably want further in time. But we have to start somewhere and see where we are with him He is a lovely big grey gelding. Good Luck Team Gifford.

I am a little behind with updates, we also had “Solar Glory” had his first run since having his wind op at Fontwell ( the meeting just gone) and although it did not look very good in terms of his finishing position. Nick Schofield was pleased with how he finished the race this time. The ground was really soft which did not suit him , but when he got to the point in the race where he use to struggle with breathing, Nick gave him one smack and he responded and ran on up the hill. We will keep going with him until the end of the season and give him every chance. He is an extremely nervous horse who runs on one breath and needs to learn to race still, but it was definitely a positive step. Two more runs and then he will be able to run in handicap company in his own class and hopefully on better ground too. He is still only 5 years old.
